 Issues Matter

·        Economy:                 We are facing a growing recession, a mortgage crisis of historic proportions, a falling dollar, rising unemployment, continuing loss of manufacturing jobs, declining take-home pay and greater poverty. The safety and security of the nation's retirement system is in doubt, and energy dependence  puts are national security and our economy at risk.  Democrats will change that! 

·        Health Care:                        We have 42 Million uninsured in America and growing, children's health care vetoed by Bush twice, and health care designed to benefit the insurance and pharmaceutical companies -- not the sick.  Democrats will change that!

·        Environment:         We need a serious effort toward alternative fuels and energy independence. Science, not political ideology, needs to guide our environmental agencies. Global warming is real; industrial polluters should not be writing our environmental laws. Democrats will change that!

·        Education:               A broad educational curriculum for well-rounded kids is needed instead of misplaced emphasis on testing, “teaching to the test” and unfunded federal mandates on the states. Democrats will change that!

·        International Affairs:       Cowboy diplomacy has led to a loss in support and respect from long standing allies. Afghanistan is still the home of a resurgent Taliban and Osama Bin Laden. Incompetent execution of the Iraq war has cost 4,000+ American lives, over 30,000 wounded and $500+ billion. Over 1.1 million Iraqi's have been killed. We were misled into the wrong war in the wrong place. Democrats will provide for a responsible resolution.

·        Public Works:         Our roads, bridges, schools, levees, water systems, mass transit and power grids are deteriorating with no solutions in sight.  Democrats will change that!
